Jason Kaplan has worked with prominent political leaders and business executives for nearly a decade. Specializing in crisis communication and campaign management, Jason provides counsel to major issue-advocacy campaigns, large companies, and Democrats running for elected office.
Most recently, Jason played a major role managing press for the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike against General Motors. Specifically, Jason served as an on-the-record spokesperson, developed rapid response protocols, and media-trained top UAW leadership for live interviews with the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, CBS this Morning, CNN Today, NBC’s Nightly News, CBS Evening News, ABC World News Tonight, MSNBC, FOX, NPR’s All Things Considered, and many more.
In addition, Jason served as campaign manager and a top spokesperson for the winning Fix Our Transit campaign, a massive coalition of New York’s most powerful labor, environmental, business, civil rights, and transportation groups to advocate for congestion pricing.
Before joining SKDKnickerbocker, Jason served as press secretary for U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in Washington, DC press office. As a top spokesperson for Senator Schumer for nearly 4 years, Jason crafted and orchestrated major press events throughout New York State. Additionally, he played a role in managing Schumer’s press during his third term re-election effort and worked with media outlets ranging from New York City to regional media markets, like the City of Buffalo.
He graduated from the George Washington University with a master’s degree in media and public affairs and a bachelor’s degree in political communication.
