Abigail Bessler

Abigail is part of SKDK’s D.C. public affairs team, where she works with corporate, advocacy and nonprofit clients.

Abigail previously served as Legislative Director to New York City Council Member Keith Powers, where she worked on criminal justice reforms to close Rikers Island and issues ranging from housing to tourism. Before that, Abigail worked at West Wing Writers drafting speeches for leaders in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. In 2016, she interned on the Hillary Clinton campaign, assisting the national policy team and writing surrogate speeches.

Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Abigail graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in Political Science. For her award-winning senior thesis analyzing the role of humor in presidential campaigns, she watched every televised debate since 1980 to record every joke (a few of which were actually funny).
