SKDKnickerbocker has long been recognized as one of the top political consulting firms in the United States. We have been involved in the last five presidential campaigns and have elected numerous members of Congress, along with statewide and municipal officials. We have been at the forefront of issue and public advocacy campaigns, where we have raised public awareness, won referendums, and pushed and blocked legislation. At Our Work, you can find case studies of some of our Political and Legislative/Referendum campaigns.

In 2011, SKDK is proud to have helped make history by advising from formation to victory New Yorkers United for Marriage, the coalition put together to pass same-sex marriage in New York State. SKDK developed the core message, created events across NYS, handled day-to-day press outreach, placed numerous op-eds, and directed a $2 million paid media plan, including producing TV ads and a half-million pieces of direct mail.

Also in 2011, SKDK was proud to play a major role in winning races from the Deep South to the Northeast. Despite being the GOP’s top target with $500,000 of ads aired against him for not joining the lawsuit against President Obama’s healthcare plan, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood won a resounding 61% victory. SKDK also developed the strategy and produced TV ads, along with direct mail, to win Virginia legislative races, a New Haven Mayor’ s race, and a County Executive and District Attorney race in upstate New York. For info on 2011 races.

While 2010 was a tough year for Democrats, we were honored to help elect the first Democratic Governor in Connecticut in over twenty years, a new Attorney General in New York State, and produced advertising that helped re-elect Senator Harry Reid and win tough congressional campaigns. For info on 2010 races.

In 2008, we were proud to participate in many levels in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Managing Director Anita Dunn served as Obama Campaign Senior Advisor/Chief Communications Officer and later served as White House Communications Director. SKDK was part of the national media team for the general election, producing a wide range of television advertising and direct mail in the battleground states of Nevada, Michigan, New Hampshire and North Carolina.

Also in 2008, we played a major role in electing four U.S. Senators, including developing the advertising for one of the year’s biggest upsets—the defeat of North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole. We also developed the strategy which led to Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu’s largest Senate victory. In addition, we won four congressional seats for Democratic candidates in swing and “red” states. For info on N.C.Senate race.

At the municipal level, in 2009, we helped elect Michael Bloomberg to a historic third term as New York City Mayor—producing all the television, radio and direct mail.
