James is a member of SKDKnickerbocker’s political department in Washington, D.C, where he helps advise Democratic candidates and progressive campaigns on communications and paid media strategy.

Before joining SKDK, James served as the campaign manager of Joshua Cole’s 2019 State House campaign in Virginia. Leading all communications, paid media, polling, and direct mail strategy, James helped Joshua Cole flip a highly contested and targeted state house seat while breaking fundraising records to surpass $1.3 million raised.

James previously worked as a staffer for four years on Capitol Hill in Senator Tim Kaine’s office and on his Senate re-election campaign in 2018. As Senator Kaine’s Outer Nova Political Director, James was the lead political contact in northern Virginia, organizing stakeholder meetings with local and state elected officials, advocacy groups, and labor organizations.

James grew up in Gloucester, Virginia, and attended The George Washington University where he studied economics and political science.
