Cecelia Prewett Joins SKDKnickerbocker

Hill veteran and Obama political appointee brings policy, politics and communications savvy

Washington, D.C., February 19, 2013 – SKDKnickerbocker, one of the nation’s leading political consulting and strategic communications companies, today announced Cecelia Prewett will join the firm as Senior Vice President effective February 25, 2013.

Prewett joins the firm from the Federal Trade Commission, where she served as the Director of Public Affairs and Senior Policy Advisor for Chairman Jon Leibowitz. At FTC, she served as a personal advisor to the Chairman on agency policy and media strategy for the wide range of areas that comprise the FTC’s mission, including: antitrust, consumer protection, technology and privacy. She has been the Commission’s key communications strategist on many specific cases including mergers; ad practices; antitrust matters; and several hearings and rules issued during her tenure on privacy. Her approach to media allowed for broad-reaching communication with a range of stakeholders including interest groups and consumer advocates, private sector companies and foreign governments in the EU and elsewhere.

Prior to her position in the Obama Administration, Cecelia was vice president for the American Association for Justice where she developed and oversaw the overall media strategy on trial attorney issues, and managed the communications and research departments. Prewett also held key media relations roles at AARP and for the State of Illinois. She began her career on Capitol Hill working for former U.S. Representative Rahm Emanuel, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy and former Rep. Bob Filner.

“Cecelia’s strategic communications expertise on regulatory, legal and technology issues combined with her political savvy will help our clients tremendously,” said Hilary Rosen, Managing Director. “From the Federal Trade Commission to her work for former White House Chief of Staff and now Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Cecelia has worked with top policy makers shaping the narrative of big ideas and helping to get them executed.”

Prewett will join one of the most experienced teams of high-level strategists in the country led by Anita Dunn, Bill Knapp, Hilary Rosen, Jill Zuckman, J.B. Poersch, Doug Thornell, Karen Olick, Noralisa Leo, Jim Mulhall and Chris Cooper in Washington, DC; and Josh Isay, Jennifer Cunningham and Stefan Friedman in New York.
