Kerri Lyon
Kerri Lyon is a Senior Vice President at SKDKnickerbocker. She has spent the past 15 years developing communications and public relations experience as a strategist and as an award-winning journalist in New York City.
Before joining SKDKnickerbocker, Lyon was Communications Director for the New York City Charter School Center, a non-profit education reform organization. Kerri engaged national and local media on critical education-based topics including Race to the Top legislation, funding equity for charter schools and reducing the educational achievement gap, as well as providing internal and external communications support to more than 100 individual schools throughout the five boroughs.
Prior to her work at the Charter Center, Lyon served as Communications Director to Schools Chancellor Joel Klein at the New York City Department of Education. In this role, she developed and implemented strategies for communicating to the public the City’s comprehensive school reform agenda. She has successfully placed stories in countless local and national publications, and even booked Chancellor Klein on “The Colbert Report.”
Before joining the DOE, Lyon was an award-winning television journalist for WCBS-TV and New York 1 News, specializing in education and political affairs reporting.
