J.B. Poersch is Managing Director in the Washington, DC office, where he oversees SKDK’s political division and develops strategy for both corporate and advocacy clients.

In 2012, Poersch was a key strategist in Joe Donnelly’s upset victory for a U.S. Senate seat in Indiana. Poersch is a cofounder and a general strategist for Senate Majority PAC – a super PAC that won 16 of 19 U.S. Senate races they were active in last cycle. Additionally, J.B. created ads and consulted on races for the DSCC, DGA and the successful House campaigns of Mark Pocan and John Delaney.

Praised by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) as a “brilliant strategist,” Poersch served as Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) from 2005-2010, during which time he helped lead Democrats to a takeover of the Senate in 2006, achieve a 60 vote super majority in 2008 and retain the majority in 2010.

Managing a $150 million party committee for six years, Poersch helped elect 20 new senators and played a critical role in ensuring success in many Senate incumbent races.

J.B. served as Washington Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Jack Reed (D-RI) from 1990-1996 and then U.S. Senator Reed from 1996-2004. In addition, Poersch has served in a variety of campaign management roles, including Reed’s winning Senate race in 1996.

Poersch is a native of Schenectady, New York and a graduate of Providence College. A resident of Alexandria, VA, J.B. is married with two children.
